The main hunting for tahr and chamois is during the period May-August when their skins and capes are at their best; however they can be hunted all year round as can the other non-antlered species such as goats, feral sheep, and wild boar.
Small game such as possum, rabbit, hare, and wallaby can also be hunted year round.
For antlered species the season is late February through to August, the period during which those animals carry their hard trophy antlers.
Game birds and ducks enjoy protected seasons, which vary with species.
